When black is burned is a series on the margins, somewhere between reality and fiction, poetry and everyday life, that plays with the codes of abstraction and photographic figuration to plunge us into a brightly coloured, chiaroscuro universe. In this series, negative photographs that have been reworked - painted or coloured - are presented alongside silver and digital photographs of all kinds. The book is dense, with no white space, and every detail echoes the colourimetry of the works, with a yellow stitching thread, a green cardboard edge, and mass-coloured paper for the text. An immersion in colour, at the heart of Marguerite Bornhauser’s work.
